Baptisms / Christenings
A baptism (sometimes called a ‘Christening’) marks the first step of a lifelong spiritual journey with God. It is a time of celebration and thanksgiving, anchored within the Christian faith. It involves acknowledging your belief in God, and a willingness to learn to follow Jesus.
Most frequently, it is a time to celebrate and give thanks to God for the gift of a child or new baby, but baptism is available for anyone of any age who wishes to make that step of faith.
In the case of babies and children, the parents and godparents make the decisions and promises on their behalf. Godparents promise to pray for and encourage the child in their spiritual development and help the parents raise the child in the Christian faith. Godparents must themselves be baptised.
To arrange a baptism or talk through what is involved, please get in touch with our Vicar. Details are available here.
