Flowers
The aim of the flower team is to enhance the peaceful ambience of the church in which we worship, to complement the beauty of our magnificent building!
We are ably supported by a rota of enthusiastic volunteers who kindly donate and arrange the weekly arrangements in church, giving pleasure to many. Help is on hand if necessary.
The flowers for the festivals being purchased with donations given in memory of a loved one or to celebrate a special occasion or anniversary. When all the arrangements are completed and the clearing of greenery finished, the kettle goes on and we have a welcome sit and a chat in the vestry.
Working quietly, using fresh flowers, the flower team create the arrangements which reflect the colours of the seasons – being white and gold for the Seasons of Christmas and Easter, with red flowers being seen at Pentecost. Special arrangements are also seen during the Harvest Celebration, the Patronal Festival and for Remembrance Sunday.
The intention moving forward is to encourage new ideas and to develop our skills, to support and encourage new members of the flower rota and all the flower arrangers who give so generously of their time and experience, continuing the tradition of St Matthew’s in having a dedicated and successful flower team.
