Weddings / Wedding Blessings
Congratulations on your decision to get married. We are delighted that you are considering a church wedding or wedding blessing here at St Matthews. We are happy to make your day as traditional or as special and unique as you wish.
If you live within the area of Rhos a Mynydd Mission Area, or if you have a link with the church, you are entitled to get married at any one of our churches. If not, you may still be able to get married here, if you are willing to attend for worship regularly for a period of at least 6 months prior to your wedding. To find out more about getting married here please e-mail or phone our Vicar – details on the contacts page.
If a church wedding is not for you, or you have decided to have a destination wedding or get married in the registry office, you might still want a service in church. In those cases we can offer a Service of Wedding Blessing. This can be as traditional or unique as you want too.
Services of Wedding Blessing are not just for directly after your wedding either. For whatever reason you may wish to recommit to the vows you made when you were first married. A service of blessing is also available for same-sex couples who have been civilly partnered or married elsewhere and wish to receive God’s blessing on their commitment to one-another.
By coming to church to celebrate in one of these ways you are choosing to stand before your friends and family, and make your vows to one another in the sight of God. You are also coming to be prayed for and have God’s blessing on your future life together.
If you are not sure yet, why not just pop along and join us for one of our Sunday morning services. Our vicar is always happy to answer any questions you might have. Details of service times are on the ‘Service Times’ page.
To arrange a wedding or talk through what is involved, please get in touch with our Vicar. Details are available here.
